He expressed it in a three-day meeting that started on the 1st October 2019, took place in Kigali City, it is attended by nineteen national societies worldwide, it was organized by Rwanda Red Cross in partnership with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The meeting builds on the progress made over the past two years to improve and strengthen coordination in the region through peer to peer and mutual learning.

Rwanda Red Cross SG, Appolinaire Karamaga said that there is need of technology in disaster management that could be done by Meteo Rwanda. There is also need of Ministry in charge of Emergency Management so that people who met disasters could be easily helped.

“Partners need to unite and collaborate especially in technology, so that it will be easy for the citizens to be informed about climate changes and get prepared, this partnership with State will help to help those who were affected by disaster problems.” He said

Andreas Sandin, the head of operations in East Africa, mentioned some of impacts of the ongoing 2019 meeting and headlines it is going to focus on

“Meeting will focus on improved information sharing, mutual learning, and networking among movement DM counterparts through the peer to peer approach. This will ensure a more participatory methodology and serve as a point for networking across borders and themes.” He said

Directors of Disaster Management from East Africa with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies sponsors made some decisions which will help in Climate Change Campaign as their contributions.
